AusZinc Metals and Alloys source a wide range of zinc based residues (zinc dross, ash, skimming’s etc) produced by the hot dip galvanizing process and zinc smelting industry. Using a combination of mechanical and metallurgical processes, zinc alloys are produced for the for the galvanizing and die-casting industry; which include aluminium / zinc, nickel / zinc and antimonial / zinc alloys.
In addition, AusZinc Metals and Alloys produce zinc chemicals (zinc oxides) for the fertilizer industry and other industrial uses.
INDUSTRIAL GALVANIZERS
Industrial Galvanizers provides hot dip galvanizing services to the Australian steel industry through a net work of plants strategically located in major centers through out Australia. Galvanizing is a low cost, easily applied corrosion projection system for steel items providing extended, maintenance free service life.
Industrial Galvanizers’ facilities have the capability to process the full range of steel products from small parts in centrifuge facilities to large structural steel fabrications weighing in excess of 10 tonnes.
The hot dip galvanizing process involves the chemical cleaning of steel prior to its immersion into molten zinc (at 450°C). The steel and molten zinc react to form a zinc-iron alloy coating on the surface of the steel item. This alloy coating produced in the galvanizing process provides steel items with a superior protection against corrosion as a physical barrier and in addition provides cathodic protection to exposed steel.
